A unique Czech-inspired lager that most of us were unsure about at first, as most lagers haven't gone over too well in the past, but the majority of us ended up liking it. A crisp, dark lager with a distinctive malt taste. Also has "dark fruits" according to a discription on Untappd which we could eventually pick out, we were thinking possibly plum. One Lizard stated, "If you're a malt masochist you'll love this beer."
This beer is one hell of a drinking experience. The first taste will not raise any eyebrows. Very heavy on traditional lager flavors, not good. The further into the beer you get however, it gets progressively more and more strong on the lime flavor. Best server very cold and finishes crisp. They weren't lying when they named this beer! Well liked around The Table
It looks like a lager, smells like a lager, and guess what... Tastes like one too! Drink this beer slowly or else you won't taste much. That isn't necessarily a bad thing but more of an observation. Most of the Lizards were picking up notes of malts and barley. The malt gives this beer an incredibly subtle note of sweetness. This beer finishes surprisingly bitter which sets it apart from other lagers in our book. This was relatively well liked across the table. No one was blown away from it, but everyone agreed that it's a decent beer
Thicker and fuller body than Dortmunder from the same brewery. While this beer is on the lighter side, you still get that taste of hops. Not overpowering like an IPA but definitely more than you would taste in traditional lagers. The amber ale qualities of this brew gave it a really nice refreshing flavor that many Lizards could see enjoying in the summer heat. It was pretty well liked around the Table
Opinions varied widely across the Table. Flavor wise it was almost completely straight down the middle. The phrase "basic bitch" was thrown around a lot in the discussion of this beer. Some Lizards couldn't help but compare the stale aftertaste to that of Miller Lite, which is a mortal sin as far as we're concerned on the Lizard Liquors. The question of price came into order during the latter half of the discussion. To a couple of the Lizards this beer didn't differentiate itself enough from cheaper, domestic options to warrant the increase of price for craft brews. Try if you want, but this wasn't well liked by us
This is perhaps one of the most flavorful lagers we have had on this show. Raspberry is the main driving flavor but it doesn't overpower by any means. It is wonderfully balanced with the very refreshing nature of most of these Abita Brews. It goes down extremely smooth and is a beer that would fit just about any occasion. Highly recommended by all members of the Table
Another very light beer in flavoring from New Glarus. The main flavor note in this beer is some sort of fruity or citrus flavor. Don't expect it to be very prominent however. The Lizards theorized that the flavoring might be from a grapefruit. However, no specific flavor is mentioned in the description. Reception from the Lizards was somewhat positive. Not blown away by any means though.
